Host made fun of my name?

So I booked to stay somewhere for two nights along with my partner.

I contacted the host about a week before the stay asking about check in details. He responded the day before I was due to check in saying he would add me to his house chat. (I have no idea what that means). The really weird thing is that he signed the message off 'Superman' (that is not his name).

My name is Lois and so I think he was trying to be funny?

However I did not find it funny. I found it creepy and rude. I contacted Airbnb saying that it made me uncomfortable and I wasn't sure about staying with him, but they said they they would have to see if its okay with him if I was to cancel and get a refund.

Is this unacceptable or do you think I am overreacting?

@Lois53, I would recommend asking the host what he means by "house chat" as you have not heard that term before. (I haven't either.) Myself, I would ignore the superman bit, especially if I, like you, were travelling with a partner. However, I wouldn't fault you for asking him whether it was a reference to your name. There are people who think they are hilarious with stuff like that. Have no idea it is hackneyed and unfunny. He might drop it once he learns you are not as delighted with it as he is.

But if you get a creepy answer, call CS back.
