I have to cancel a guests stay because a bad storm knocked out our power and most of central Pa and there isn't an estimate time it will get restored.
Will that affect our super host designation? What should we do?
Thanks
John
Hello @John1975
I can see you are an experienced Superhost. Have you come across Airbnb's extenuating circumstances policy? Why not use that?
@John1975 Contact airbnb asap to ensure that they don't penalize you for the cancellations. You should be exempt but you will have to provide some documentation on the power outage.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I talked to Airbnb this morning. They said call back when the guest's decide they want to definitely cancel.
The guests wanted to wait until the last moment to cancel just in case the power came back on. They really wanted to stay.
They decided to cancel so I called Airbnb back and all went well with the cancellation. We retained our super host status.
The power to our property should be restored by 9:30pm according to the power company. That would make 24hrs with out power. Not fun at all.
Thanks again,
John
Don't cancel. Call Airbnb, explain and have them cancel it.
