House heating 28 degrees and rooftop opdn

Hi,

for the first time we are facing issues with guests and I’m interested in your insights.

we came back yesterday and it was 28 degrees in our house (December in amsterdam), on top of that the rooftop window was open heating up outside...

it was also smelling to smoke in the bathroom and other rooms and we found a odor killer spray next to the garbage, so they probably sprayed the whole house because of the smoke.

what can we do in such cases? Ask for money directly or call with Airbnb? What is a proper amount to ask for 5 days 28 degrees heating and no respect of the house policy. We have a caution of 250€.

thank you very much!

Jeroen

Uh @Marion54  I am afraid you will have to count it as a business cost 😞

@Marion54, I see you have a no smoking policy. I would write my review reflecting what you mentioned about the smell of smoke, the discovery of the odor-killer spray and that the windows were open, wasting heat and energy, costing you money.

If you ask for money now, before they leave their own review, you risk a retaliatory review. If you feel your current star rating can absorb a poor review, then go for it now. If not, you can also try to leave your own review now, hoping they will leave theirs soon and then you can request money right after.

How to figure it, I don't know, perhaps only for the de-odorization of the room?
