How can a guest who cancelled, still leave a review?

I am so angry right now that I want to quit Airbnb. We have 300 five star reviews, now for the first time we have a guest that has canceled their stay and left us a two star review (not clean, not accurate, not, not, not).

We contacted Airbnb and they told us that they could not drop the review.

This review is a lie and they did not even enter our Airbnb, they canceled the day before!

Does anybody have any suggestions other than "suck it up"?

Thank you for responding to my venting.

Wow, @Island-Girl-BnB0 I'm so glad to hear that it all worked out as it should. There has been so many stories in this community with the opposite outcome.

Best, Sandra

I am going through this and AirBnB is not being helpful in anyway.

A guest asks to book a room outside of my 24 hr booking window, the same day he is to arrive. He also asks me if he can check in early and I reply he you can check in at 2 pm instead of 3

While I am making up the room for him he arrives at not 2 pm but 1 pm thinking I will just let him come in so I do not go out to the parking lot to receive him and continue on fixing up the room

I come down 20 minutes later and he is gone and in my email inbox, I find a message saying he an emergency, want the reservation cancelled and want his money back to, I say you must cancel and I will give you half of your funds back. He cancels and half the funds are sent to him through the system.

A day goes by and I see a request to write a review for Allan and I do not remember an Allan so I look back through my reservations see an Allan going back a while, think that must be it and have forgotten to write a review and proceed to write the review inadvertently for the guest that cancelled using a boiler plate message to respond.

I immediately I get a review for this guy Allan that I have never met nor has stayed with me. How is it possible for a guest to write a review if he never stayed with you, he can because there is a flay in the Airbnb system. Once he books the system automatically sends the guest a request for a review according to the support department.

Because he is upset by not getting all his money back he writes the most disgusting, libellous review full terrible things to do me harm. He made mention of items on my property so he was trespassing going as far as looking in my windows as he thought no one was home. He said that he had cancelled and decided to drop by to see what he was missing. Fortunately, my near 200 reviews speak for themselves along with my Super Host rating. I am fighting to get it removed but it does not look hopeful at his point. So be careful when you have a guest cancel and they don't get a refund you may end up in my boat.

The review system should have flagged me that this guest had cancelled and I did not need to write a review and I would not be writing this now. The system should also prevent him from writing a review after he had cancelled his reservation as well.
