How do I know if a security deposit has been taken from my guests ?

I am a new host. I added a security deposit to the fees section but am not sure whether this is being collected from guests when they book, as one guest has asked me what to do about the deposit ? Does anyone know if there is a way I can check whether a deposit has been taken ?

many thanks

@Trish25 Guests are never charged the deposit, unless the host files a claim against them. See the text just below the security deposit information for details on how this works.

Hello

I think it is the other way round. They are charged a deposit but it is not refunded if a claim is filee against them

Hosts get the amount that they claim. It is not necessary that you will get the entire amount. You could be provided with a partial amount depending on your claimed expense.

@Soniya0 You are incorrect. Please see the official Airbnb policy for details.

Yes could you please share a link to that policy?

oh got it from the comment below

Security deposits

If you make a reservation with a host who asks for a security deposit, you won’t be charged on the deposit unless a host makes a successful claim against the deposit after your trip.

What happens if a host makes a claim on my security deposit?

When you book a listing with a security deposit, your payment details are stored but not charged or authorized for the deposit unless the host makes a claim. The host has 14 days from your checkout date to make a claim on the deposit for damages to their property.
