How do I request a credit after cancellation by Host?

Hello,

Unfortunately I had the experience of having a host cancel on me about a month after my reservation.  Since the reservation is for peak season, prices have gone up significantly over the refund price.  I see that some are able to request small credits (10-20%) when cancellations occur. 

How do I make this request?

@Grant51 - not sure where you see that people are being given extra money for cancellations.  Maybe if the circumstances were such that it was last minute or the guest needed to be put up in a hotel, but this is not a typical event. 

It sucks that the host did this.  Looks like they weren't watching their calendar and rented to you at off-season prices and thought they could rectify it by cancelling.  There are severe penalties to them for doing so.
