Been some time since this post but I think it deserves opening up again as I haven't heard whether or not Airbnb plans to make it easier for hosts to offer breakfasts - cooked or otherwise as an extra charge. They should have a tick box that can be checked etc and even mention special requirements like someone wanted soya milk the other day. Seems reasonable to me. Incidentlly I spoke with a host from Holland the other day and they said their interpretation of the 'n' in Airbnb was for bed 'no' breakfast. That shows there's no real understanding internationally.
A lot of hosts would rather not go through the invasive local authority inspections, record keeping, rating system and completing the food hygene courses required for everyone who prepares food for guests.
Thanks Jeff, it is indeed enough to put anyone off. Seems like this is a bit of an unregulated area of Airbnb and I never thought of that when I was last making the Full English breakfast for my Italian guests. On this advice I'm definitely going back to make your own tea and toast. Or is that covered too in the hygeine standards argh!
