Hi there
I'm a new host and don't seem to be able to disable the 'instant book' function. I have followed instructions but can't see the toggle referred to. I've read several discussion boards suggesting that this is a bug in the system and that I should contact air bnb directly but I'm not sure how.
Thanks in advance for any help on this, Natalie
I don't think you can since you are a new host.
Instant Book seems to be a forced prescription for new hosts.
Not a good way to keep new hosts because the risk are too high.
Hi @Natalie34, well you could contact AirBnB here but it's not a bug in the system; it's a trial that AirBnB are running (currently) with new hosts where Instant Book is on by default and there is no way to turn it off. They seem to think this is better than allowing hosts to interact with a guest before accepting or declining them. AirBnB forget that we are not running a hotel but opening up our homes and this is a terrible experiment being run in a terrible way. Sorry, that sounds like a rant but it's getting some experienced as well as new hosts rather cross.
Hopefully, someone who knows will post on your convo and tell us.
If it was me, I wouldn't deactivate my listing, but I would block out all of my days
so no one can instantbook and have them message you with inquiry. You could
still screen them and look at their profiles and reviews before opening the days
they need.
Juat a thought but if this is only happening to some new listings could you not delete the current listing start again and see if you are stuck with instant book and then repeat as needed until you get one that is not?
