I am a host. Am I being scammed?

I am a host. Am I being scammed?

I rent 2 studio apartments for a minimum of 1 month each which is required here in San Francisco. I had a request for a reservation in November for 2 months starting June 1. This morning I received a text from an  individual stating that the original guest couldn't make it and she, her friend, would be coming instead. I don't know anything about this person, she didn't make the reservation, her information isn't available and her credit card wouldn't be on file.

With scams rampant these days  I am wary of this situation. Has anyone had experience with something like this. I have a request into Airbnb for advice but am looking to the community for practical insight.

Thanks!

I would not accept such a change. This person has not booked your appartment. Do not communicate with her, but only with the person who booked. She needs to cancel the reservation if she "can't make it".

The "long term stay cancellation policy" will not refund the first month.

Best regards,

Emiel

Thank you for your helpful advice.

@Shelley191  Do not communicate with either the original booker or her "friend" by text, only through the Airbnb messaging. "Hi XX, regarding the text you sent about your friend taking your reservation, 3rd party bookings are against Airbnb's terms of service and will negate my home insurance, therefore I cannot accept your friend to stay in your stead. Please cancel your reservation and have your friend book the dates under her own account."
