ID verification

Would like to provide the necessary feedback that the ID verification does not work, at least not for Dutch people. Think this should be raised. Besides my concern about privacy as you are literally uploading you passport or ID, recently demonstrated by Equifax, I am dissapointed that it this verification also does not work from a technical side. For bookings that required ID verification I have moved to other platforms such as booking.com

Have been trying to upload (Dutch) passport for multiple hours now, but keep getting response that the photo of my passport is not clear enough to identify me. Tried passport of my wife through her account as well; same problem. Now I cannot book the appartment I chose.

Can anyone help?

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried both Google Chrome and IE. 

 

I also set up an ccount for my wife, because the photo on her ID is better than mine, but that didn't work either.

Update: I tried again twice today, with a different apartment, in IE. In both cases, my ID was rejected because it had supposedly expired. Bizarre, but true: in these two attempts, the system quoted two different expiration dates, neither of which look remotely like the actual expiration date in 2026. I'm on the verge of giving up altogether and turning elsewhere.

Hello @Bert24,

Thank you so much for getting back to me about this. It is strange that it did not work out with both ID cards. I was wondering if you've been in touch with Airbnb about this? I was able to find a guide on how to contact Airbnb and thought this might be useful. Would you be able to let me know the outcome?

Hi,

 

I am Dutch and the Airbnb verification procedure of my passport went without any problem. So it seems not to be a problem related to every Dutch passport.

I haven't had any problems verifying my Dutch passport either. I hope @Bert24 could let us know after he has spoken with Airbnb about this.
