Hi, has anyone else seen a reduction in bookings since Airbnb increased the customer booking fee?
our bookings have dropped significantly and Airbnb have just emailed me to say charges haven’t gone up and there is a sliding scale. But all the fees around our part of the site are 12%
is any body else finding this a problem????
and is Airbnb listening????
Can you link to informatio0n around how Airbnb have increased their service fees for guests? @Craig401
thanks.
Hi I tried to respond with an in depth answer but the site wouldn’t let me!
basically the over view is a 3% plus charge to us as hosts and then a 13% charge to the customer which we as hosts are not shown.
its meant to be upto 13% but we’re finding it’s always at this level but we weren’t told. Apparently the changes were made in mid/late 2017. No wonder our bookings are down.
ill try another way to send you the official link at some point.
best

@Craig401 I've seen no trend of tourists abandoning the whole Airbnb platform because of its fees. If you add 13% to your nightly rate and the price is still competitive, the fees shouldn't be an issue.
It's possible that the supply of competing listings in your city has increased substantially while the tourist demand hasn't. You might contact your local tourism bureau for more specific insight and stats.
