Instant booking

A host in Madrid offered flexible check in time and instant booking. Since my wife is travelling to Madrid tonight i made a booking along with details and a question "if late check in was okay?" I have not heard anything from the host and he does not answer his phone. Since the check in is tonight it is too late to cancel and get the money back. Is there another way to get the money back when a host is unawhere about bookings made on his listings?

Send the host the time that she is planning on checking in and ask him to confirm.  If he doesn't show up to let her in, contact Airbnb immediately and they will help rehouse her or offer her a refund.  

 

BTW, you booking for her under your account is considered a third-party booking and is against Airbnb policies.  https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/427/can-i-book-on-behalf-of-a-friend-or-family-member  Hopefully this will not be a problem with rehousing her.  

Thank you for your reply. He is not answering any messages when I send him details and have not yet confirmed anything. The problem is that she is landing in Madrid at 23:10 so check in will be between 00:00 and 01:00. Rehousing at that time will be complicated. I am not sending her to the address without a confirmation from the host.

 

Without the confirmation, I can consider the money as lost I guess..?

 

I see the issue that I am making the booking for her. We are experienced hosts and she is mentioned  in most of our feedbacks. For future bookings we will create another profile for her.

I agree no-one would want to turn up at that time of night without a confirmed booking. I would ask BNB to reach out to the host and if  you don't feel comfortable with going ahead ask them to find her somewhere else with a more responsive host.

Thanks, the host replyed shortly before her departure to Spain. He turned out to be very nice and the place was good too. So everything is fine. In any case I will not use instant booking again, unless I am booking well ahead of my departure.
