Hi,
I do understand that Airbnb host automatically carries a 1M USD insurance coverage on the host and the property.
I am also positive that other people would have asked the same question
Can the home owner purchase additional home and/or liability insurance coverage ? In some city of high house value, such as Vancouver in particular where I am inquiring, the house and the neighbor's house are more expense to be rebuilt in case of fire (I never want it to happen, but), the 1M USD may not be able to cover. Please advise. It will be great if Airbnb has a option for the increase premium for the host or the house owner for additional coverage over 1M .
Thank you very much.

You need to take out your own short term rental and liability insurance. Airbnb's host guarantee is not insurance its just an amount that airbnb might pay out if it decides to.

@Tony612 @Talk to a commercial insurance broker and inquire about April insurance.
Can you please give me a little more information on this insurance. We are trying to find some and it's being a difficult task.
@Tony612 , unfortunately, you have a false impression of what exactly the 1 million dollar host guarantee will do for you. It would be best to search "host guarantee" in this forum and read about some of other host experiences.
@Tony612 Definitely get your own insurance. The so-called 1 million Host Gurantee is a bad joke. They will NEVER pay you a million dollars even if someone burns your house to the ground. You'd be lucky to get a few grand.
I am in a predicament. We live in our property and have a separate Barn which we rent through Airbnb. Our insurance company does not want to insure us as we have an Airbnb on our property. We are looking for property insurance to cover our home and the Barn, which is where we have the Airbnb. I am in Tampa, Florida and so far either they do not want to insure us or are asking a ridiculous amount $5,000 a year to insure us due to having an Airbnb in the property. Any suggestions on insurance companies that do insure properties with airbnbs? Thank you.
Did you ever find any insurance? We are running into the same situation.
