missing messages

I'm new to this and have had 3 booking requests that worked fine but one where I didn't receive an email message or txt. I didn't notice the request until 3 days later and will probably miss out. I see othe people having trouble with missing txts but not emails.

@John488....Yes John this has been a problem for just over 1 year now. You cannot rely on TXT messaging to inform you of a booking request. There have been many posts over the past year with this exact same problem. It is advisable to check your settings at regular intervals and make sure that changes elsewhere in the platform have not affected details in your listing. You can do this by going into 'Account Settings' which will the third item in the drop down box under your log-in profile. Go to 'TXT message Settings'  and verify that the details are correct, The two important boxes are the top one...'Messages' and the bottom box...'Reservation Updates'! Make sure these boxes are both ticked and make sure the email setting directly under are both ticked. Sometimes if sms is a problem you can restore contact by un-checking the TXT settings and re-ticking them...this may re-set the system.

It also may not be the fault of Airbnb! How many times has someone sent you a txt you didn't receive?  Or is that just because I am with 'Vodafail' :-)!! Sometimes txts just don't come through because it is a cellular service, so best to rely on your computer, not your phone.

All the best John

Thanks Rob.

I had already checked the account options and I have every box checked. A far as I know I've never had a txt message not come through. What's more imoprtant is that an email wasn't sent either and I did check my SPAM folders.

Cheers

John

@John488   I have the same problems with e-mails notifications not coming through, it's very random some do some don't. I have to login and check my account every day just in case.   Airbnb said it was because I didn't have gmail !!! I don't buy that, more likely it's a glitch.

@Ange2  Yeah Ange, they will tell you that but, it all started with something they did in October 2015...Before that sms messages were as reliable as clockwork, never missed one! All of a sudden none of us were receiving txt messaging and it looked like in an endeavour to cut costs ABB were deleting that level of contact.....Lets face it those 20c txt's mount up when your a 4.5 billion dollar company who in actual fact own bugger all but a bit of software!! 🙂

About that time I made a few desperate calls to ABB and they calmly told me that..."no, there were no alterations taking place and that I will reset your notifications"! Great for a few days and then the txt's would disappear again.

Then one post told how on a similar call that the staff member she spoke to had told her that..."She had reached out to a fellow working in that area who confirmed that alterations to notifications were taking place" So, there you go!

Look all I or anyone else can say is, despite the fact that ABB will deny everything, do not depend on txt messaging as a reliable method of booking notification.

Was does strike me as a little strange with @John488's situation....he discovered it after 3 days and I am wondering, had it been in his home page messages all the time, and had he simply not looked for 3 days, or did it suddenly turn up after 3 days!

Good on you Ange, love yr work!

Cheers.....Rob

I signed on because I received a txt and email about another booking and then discovered the 3 day old one. I have to assume it was there all the time but I just hadn't looked. It seems to me that all new users need to be advised to check the system regularly.

I was a little flummoxed to see, just now, that I have an Inbox as well as a Messages folder. What's that all about?!

No wonder we miss things! Messages that usually would be in Messages (top of screen), have been coming to Inbox (left of screen), and passing unnoticed.

Anyone else missing booking requests and general emails from guests/potential guests. Opened this case a few weeks ago but it seems the issue is not yet resolved.
