Is there such thing as an Auto-Cancel?

Hello,

I am new to AirBNB and have a question.  I am not an instant-book property and all inquirys have to come through before we pre-approve.  This morning, I had a young man have his booking cancelled twice and I never once recieved an inquiry, know the details of the visit, or approved a booking for the date range.  Does anyone know if this is somthing that can happen?  Will it effect me and my status? All answers and help are greatly appreciated!

Since you have Instant Book on it seems he tried to book and couldn't get himself verified or get his payment through within 24h despite repeated tries.

Andrea,

Thank you for the response.  I do not have instant book on nor did I cancel this reservation at all.  How does that work?  Will I be hit for cancelling a reservation even though I did not hit the cancel button?

@Kelley4

Since you did not influence the booking request by cancelling you won't be penalized. It;'s the guest's fault because they weren't able to deliver as it were.

You probably have your reasons for having IB on for Blue Ridge Ave. (because it is on), but that takes away your control over who to accept and who not because you cannot vett anybody. As a new host I'd  re-think that and turn it off until you get more experience.

This never happened to me, as I use my fast cell phone I would say I always receive and email a push notification and SMS.

There is no such thing as auto-cancel.

Is there any track of him booking in your Reservations list?

Just make sure this is not some form of scam where someone claims to have booked and tries to get your address, etc...

The only bookings you should be interested in are the confirmed, paid for, ones in your Reservation list.

Ask the guest to contact AirBnB if they are having problems booking.
