Leaving early

Leaving early

I have rented and paid  from a host for 30 days and stated I would need another ten beyond that. Now I realize I do no need the extra ten and they want to charge me for it.. can I get out of paying the ten days beyond the 30 I have already paid for??

Hello @Richard872,

Did you send a reservation change request for the extra 10 days?

If so the new reservation is then for 40 days so it's a long term reservation i.e. one of 28 nights or more.

Airbnb automatically applies the long term reservation cancellation policy to those no matter what the host's normal policy is. If you cancel such a stay the policy states that you pay for the 30 days after cancellation or up to the original checkout date whichever is sooner. In this case you'd have to pay for the extra 10 days if you cancelled on the 30th day.

If you booked the extra 10 days as a separate booking then the host's normal cancellation policy applies.

Steve.

thanks Steve... it was all booked together so it is considered a long term. My circumstances changed so I was looking for some financial help on the remaining days..

@Richard872  You could send him an altered reservation change for just the 30 days and see if he accepts it. He doesn't hve to though.

@Richard872  You already completed your long term commitment, things do change so I think your host should be able to simply change/alter the days on his side, he has the tools to do this quicky, his dates will get unblocked. I would talk to CS ask them to help you alter your dates also with your reasons.
