I completed my listing on Wednesday 22/03. I've had confirmation from airbnb that I have completed listing, but can't find it on any other computer when logging onto airbnb website. (I can see my listing on my profile page)
When I'm on the map I zoom into my area, but nothing shown. I've tried several troubleshoots, but nothing seems to work. I'm about to delete my listing & deactivate my account from airbnb. I really didn't think it could be this hard. If anyone could please assist it would be greatly appreciated...

@Dan353 your listing is published (in that you can see the page if you have the link),
but for some reason it is not yet placed on the map.
This happens from time to time.
First of all, here is a link you can use to see if it is on the map:
https://www.airbnb.com/s/homes?host_id=62327757
When you click on that link, if you see your listing and a small map with the listing on it, then you are good to go.
If you click on the link and you see a "No results" page, then your listing is still not on the map.
We are not really sure why this happens, but some people have found:
If neither of those things fixes the problem, please contact AirBnB support and tell them your listing is published, but does not appear on the map.
Feel free to give them that link to try (it is the fastest and easiest way to check if you are on the map).
This is a major bug in the Airbnb software. I’ve been reporting this to them for almost 2 years.
I have a PhD in Computer Science and know what causes the problem. They won’t even accept my report that it’s a bug. After almost 2 years, their attitude is tough!
the application software is different based on the type of platform you use.
types of platforms:
cell phones:
IPhone
Android
computers:
PC’s
Desktops
Notepads
Tablet’s
Apple
Desktops
Notepads
Tablet’s
Watch
there are also different types of browsers. Airbnb claims that they tell people to use Chrome. I haven’t found that documented anywhere. Besides, there is no browser when using their Mobile Application. If you don’t have their Mobile application loaded on your IPhone, it will default and use the Safari browser.
after my 2 years and at least 40 reports to them regarding this problem, they only thing they almost consistently tell me is to use a PC Desktop with the latest version of their software for the PC desktop version and of Chrome.
I don’t have a desktop and even if I did, they shouldn’t put features in any of the other software versions that don’t, won’t work or will mess things up.
The listing is just one thing. It effects everything from dates available, pricing, amenities, discounts, etc..
I had a monthly discount listed on my IPhone that showed the price to be $1440 a month. I had a guest inquiry (thankfully they didn’t auto book) that showed the price to be $480 a month. I called Airbnb support to report it and they were seeing $1380 a month on their Desktop.
I asked to report this as a Mobile bug, he refused. He told me to use a desktop. I asked that they remove the feature from the mobile app if it doesn’t work and he ignored me. I asked that he send me a support email (like they do sometimes just to close the issue you called about and blow you off) but he refused. I wanted him to see my screenshot of how much it was per month on my IPhone. He refused and didn’t care.
he just said use a Desktop Computer to make sure our application is working properly, have a nice day and hung up.
i think we all need to bombard them on these issues and make them resolve them. How they do it, I don’t care. If it’s by leaving less functionality based on what technology you’re using, then that’s the way to do it.
Then we’d at least know what works and what doesn’t.
I have so many things that I need to fix at my mothers from her PC Desktop using Chrome that was messed up when I used my phone app and it’s costing me time and money
horrible!
@Denise118, I am a software developer (mainly the server-side of browser-based applications.)
What is the root cause of this bug?
Hi Matthew,
I lived in the Bay Area most of my adult life and just moved back to Pittsburgh. I’m retired now from the software world but still keep up to date.
I’m sorry that it took so long to get back to you!
The problem is that they don’t keep all releases in sync. They have different versions per platform. It’s ok that they don’t want to wait and roll out all versions at once, but then they should disable
The things that don’t work and or post it so people know about it.
The problem with the listings that are being hacked is due to the fact that they don’t have good encryption. You should never be able to hit the back key in an app back to the login screen then hit the forward button and go right back in. You can also copy links when you’re logged into the app and use it again on another machine. That’s how the hackers hacked all those listings for the last
3 years and Airbnb has done nothing. They need a nuch better support team that interacts with us hosts that use the app more than they do. They also need some technical people on their support team to understand the technical issues. I’ve spent hours on the phone trying to explain issues to them as non-techie as possible and they still don’t get it.
I’m sure if Dan used a Desktop with Chrome, he’d see his listing on the map..or if he had originally created the listing on the desktop.
@Denise118 thanks for the reply!
Interesting stuff.
Your message being split up into tiny chunks sort of make it read like poetry.
Hi all.... I see that this post is from 2018... I did a search by "my listing is activate but it doesn't show on map" and this popped up.
I have created 2 listings in August and have encountered the exact same problem. Every time I go look for my listings on the map it is not there!! I bring it up to Airbnb attention and they guarantee me that they are both live. 1) So why I don't get as many inquiries/booking as in the beginning when they boost my listing for business? (They do this to new listings to draw business). 2) Why do I talk to guests and they tell me that they have looked for accommodation in my house area since Sept and have NEVER seeing my listings in that general location?
It really piss me off when current guests tell me that they specific looked for that neighborhood Airbnb options and my 2 listings never showed up. 😕
Ughhh what can I do? Can I report Airbnb to BBB as bad work ethics, bad work conduct?
