AirBnB has change my account requirements so that I now have to preapprove guests. My requirement for guests reservation was that they book directly without the pre approval. Since AirBnb has over ridden my requirement I have lost two guests. Has this happened t anyone and what does one do to get this changed.
@Joan388 Pre-approval is for booking inquiries. In this case, the guests just ask hosts questions instead of submitting a booking request.
This is a normal process. Guests sending inquiries have not committed booking. Therefore, they may end up not doing anything after you reply and pre-approve.
@Joan388 If you've declined a few instant bookings, airbnb will switch off instant book and you go back to reservation requests, its a sort of punishment for declining.

i have only declined a booking when ceiling of room collapsed due to water from roof. AirBnB is well aware of this and so I feel this switching off instant booking is really over the top.
@Joan388It is over the top, but they do it anyway. So much for "penalty free" cancellations.
Depending on the amount of activity on your account, instant book should be re-instated in a few weeks - that seems to be the average amount of time that we're put in the penalty box for.
Before you think Air BNB is conspiring against you (LOL), have you contacted them? Over the years I have experienced an occassional system glitch that has temporarily changed my settings or calendar, so when I contacted them abou it the rep could see the error and take appropriate steps.
@Joan388 did the guests that contacted you for pre-approval meet your IB requirements, such as positive review and government ID? Or, do you allow all guests to IB?
In case you need a guide for contacting Air BNB, here is a link to one located here in the CC.
