Changed my dates, the host said this was fine and that the new dates are available. But he says he can't see any info that I've made any request to change the dates. So now I'm in limbo.
If I completely cancel the booking I'll get 0 dollars back, and I don't want that to happen.
Where on the website/his profile can my host see my request to change the dates?
If you go to my trips you should see a button that says change my reservation. Use this to make your change request official. Airbnb will reach out to the host and get him to accept the change. Booking is then updated.
I hope this works foer you. Richard.
I've clicked on the button.
It's the "Airbnb will reach out to the host and get him to accept the change."-part that is at fault here.
Have changed the dates once again, hope it will go through this time.
I am taking it for granted that you did this by going to your confirmed booking, chose 'alter' where you ammended your changes.
The site is sometimes glitchy, so maybe that is the reason it's not visible. Can you see the alteration from your side? If not, either tell him you will try to change the reservation again so he can accept it.
Or tell your host to change the reservation which you will accordingly be prompted by Airbnb to accept.
I can see the changes, my host can't. Even sent the print screens to him to show I've made changes.
I hope it's just glitchy like you, have made another request to change the dates.
So you can see that the dates are correct but your host can not see it, well thats odd because hosts can clearly see it on a calendar that we get with all the reservations, and if thats not clear enough host also have a number of reservations put by date and details. Maybe your host is not aware of all the tools. You can send an email to Airbnb and they will contact your host to clarify the situation. This can take up to 72 hours.
Thanks for the reply.
You don't happen to have an email address Airbnb's support?
@Dino8 firstly i had to change rooms for a guest and did what i needed to. She tried 3 times to accept but it would not. Airbnb told me we are all best to use certain computer programmes to stop glitches on airbnb and those who dont will find it more difficult to have smooth usage.. Then she says i will reach out and confirm they will accept!.. yet i had written to guest and she was more than happy to upgrade!.. I have just had to do the same thing again as cant get back from work to clean another room after guests leave in time.. The guest is more than happy to change to upgrade. I did the changes and i can see clearly including they have taken more commission despite me giving the more expensive room at the same price as the one booked, this happened the first time as well!!!!.. Anyway the guy cannot see the change to accept so i am guessing yet again Airbnb have to message him.. This is not good enough, especially at short notice changes and the fact i had to chase airbnb to confirm with guest to change.. i feel there are alterior motives to why we cannot just arrange between ourselves changes and the guest is happy with it why Airbnb have to be involved and cause as even further wasted time and effort in chasing it all!...
hope you get the changes made... ive got a few days but would be annoyed if i had to change last minute and this malarky went on..
Mala
Airbnb phoned me up from San Francisco which I appreciated. The host is still hard to reach even for them, so I couldn't get my money back but got a coupon. Which is fine by me, atleast if I find a room for my intended dates which is in a couple of days...
I'm having the same issue now. Wanting to change from 3 days to 2 days but the host cannot see any option to accept my change request. Se is only aware of my desire to change because I sent a chat message.
You might not be able to change from 3 to 2 nights if the host put a min requirement in the listing of 3 nights. Check if it's a requirement on the listing, that might explain why you can't find the option to request this change.
I'm having a similar issue - I just altered from 3 to 30 nights (wanted to make sure I could stay there a whole month because of some smell and noise issues). The host can see my alteration request in his message inbox, but says he can not find where to accept it (I think he's using the iPhone app). He suggested I make a new booking for the remaining 27 days, but it will cost me more than the alteration... Anyone here know where the host should look for the "Accept" button on the iPhone app?
Okay so the host found the Accept button on his PC instead, problem solved.
It might still be of interest to others who end up here with a similar issue to know where the host can find the Accept button in the iPhone app, if anybody knows.
