My travellers cancelled will i get penalty

My travellers whom were booked for a week starting 7th sept have requested cancel. I recieved a message from airbnb stating they require me to cancel booking and there was a link that took me to cancelling booking so i cancelled it. I have strict cancel policy. Now its saying i cancelled booking when it was my travellers that cancelled and that they will get 100% refund. Im confused. I should be gettn 50% back as they cancelled not me.

A lesson learned. A host should never cancel. Your dates will be blocked and you will get a penalty. You must always insist the guest cancel. The new system of Airbnb asking hosts to cancel is vey unfair.

This is a recent change of Airbnb, and they have caught our numerous hosts in the last week or so. I suggest complaining, if you search in the forum you will find other hosts who have been successful in reversing this. You need to contact them. I imagine that if enough of these tricked hosts complain they will be sick of dealing with it and will stop this nonsense. Complain, it worked for others! All the best with this one, it is a real trap as it looks like it is all ok with Air if you say ok to the guest's request.

My guests just canceled because they gave me the wrong dates and I was already booked for the weekend they wanted. I have strict cancelation policy! Do I get any of the money they paid? I have only 3 weeks to rent this out for the ND vs Michigan State game!

Any guest who wants to cancel, can cancel all by themselves with absolutely no input or action from you! Let me repeat that - a true cancellation BY THE GUEST does not require you to acquiesce or respond to anything. If you get something from airbnb saying the guest X has requested to cancel, either ignore it or click on the line that says something to the effect, 'no, I am totally ready to host this guest'.

You get paid if you did not acceppt, but if you accept you get penalty and blocked dates.:(

Call BnB straight away and explain what has happened....

You will have confirmation on the messaging system that the traveller wanted to cancel.

Another stupid scheme implemented by BnB to make life difficult for hosts to manage their listings .....

1. - making it as difficult as possible to find their contact details

2. - introducting mandatory instant book for new hosts

3.  sending unsupecting hosts cancellation requests which when they accept and then find themselves penalised  financially  and blocks out dates so they can't take new bookings.
