Hi to everyone. Sorry for my bad english.
In the last period I am having a lot of problems to find an accomodation using Airbnb. Many hosts are refusing my inquieries and I need many days (or weeks too...) for to reserve a room.
I am a quiet and honest man and I have never had problems with past reservations.
I think to have a positive feedback, but in many cases hosts don't give me a reply after to have refused my inquiry.
Someone can help me to understand the reason ? My public profile has something wrong that could block hosts to give me a positive reply ?
Thank you very much for your help.
For the moment we are unable to see your profile - but I suppose you have some positive reviews from past stays ?
When searching, use filters like Instant Book and Superhost to find the most reliable hosts.
Those who remain Superhost with Instant Book turned on are really good !
I think the reason might be that airbnb listings have mushroomed and many hosts are inexperienced and unprofessional.
Hi @Marit-Anne0.
Thank you very much for your reply.
I totally agree with you when I read that there are many incexperienced and unprofessional hosts.
I usually inform Airbnb about problems, but it seems that the situation is very far from the final solution...
I will look for Instant Booking and Superhosts. I think it is the best solution.
Thank Again.
Hi @Juri2,
As a host, I always like to see a little informarion about someone on the profile: your interests, what you like to do in your spare time, usual travelling companions, places you have been and loved, etc. That is something you can work on, see if it makes a difference. But for me, that alone wouldn't prevent me from engaging in a little chat to exchange information and get to know those things anyway! You have some verifications in place (even the govenrmnet ID), good reviews, a picture of an actual person (you'll be surprised how many cast we see on profile pictures;-), so that's not it!
Are you looking to book in a crazy popular city or area where hosts can be very, very picky or a very popular week (holiday season, event in town) for 1 night?! The Superhost / IB combination that @Marit-Anne0 suggests will hopefully help you a lot to find a professional and welcoming host!
Good luck!
Babs
Hi @Babs0.
Thank you very much for your reply.
At the moment I am trying to book an accomodation in Copenhagen for 1 night at the middle of February.
Honestly I have not studied the situation of the city for the selected period. I have booked a very cheap flight and no more...thinking to have no problems because my travel will be in the heart of next winter and not in summer, for example.
Now I try to look if the requested night is "particular" for events or similar and I will look for istant booking or superhosts.
Thanks again 🙂 !
As @Marit-Anne0 already mentioned at the moment it is not possible to click and link through to view your profile page and reviews and give any direct reactions or comments to it.
Your picture is very professional, so it can't be that. If you have another one to additionally upload that shows you more as a 'private' person in a relaxed mood doing something you like (outdoors, sports...), then that might convice some hosts who are 'afraid' of a corporate person.
Just an idea while thinking through possible psychological host thinking here!
It of course always helps to have a short personal description on your profile.
When a potential guest f. ex. contacts me with a short text about why they plan on being in my city and possibly the reason they chose MY listing, then this shows me they are probably a good enough communicator and thus has a positive influence on my decision. Minimal inquiries of 'Me and my boyfriend will be in your city and would like to book" don't make the best impression, and automatically have me asking more questions about THEM.
Unfortunately, there are apparently a multitude of hosts who could be more professional and keep their calendars more up-to-date or be better in communicating. One way to ensure that you have good chances of getting a good host is looking to see if they are 'super hosts' or at least have a 5-star rating and a high response rate and time (see their profile). This means they take their business and your inquiry more seriously.
Hope this helps and feel free to send the URL to your profile page if you wish for more analysis 😄
Hi @Andrea9.
Thank you very much for your reply.
This is the link of my public profile. I have nothing to hide 🙂 :

I have read your comments and I have never written nothing about me on my profile. The reason is only one: when I have created it, I have had no time. I need days with almost 36 or 48 hours because the classic 24 hours are not enough for me...but it is correct that some information about me and my life can influence the decision of possible future hosts, so I will update my profile as soon as possible.
I travel a lot (I have my personal travel blog, unfortunately only in italian for the moment) and in my life I am a financial supervisor since over 15 years with many references. I have never had problems with my past hosts and honestly to receive a lot of "refused" for my inquieries is not a good thing.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
Thanks, and I hear you about 24h usually being too short...
You have great reviews, so that can't be the problem. I still think - take the bit of time needed and add a short text that gives an informative picture without disclosing too many details, like " I'm married (kids?) and generally an enthusiastic workaholic. But when I can take time off from the office I love to ...(discover new places?, go skiiing and doing water sports??, hiking??, learn...? ,.....)
The underlying message is that you're serious (probably not the one to trash a place, and yet fun enough to enjoy life.
Again, add a relaxed vacation or recreational picture to your profile, maybe even with your wife/family to show your other side.
I hope this time investment will in turn shave time off of the frustrating refusals. Good luck!
Oh yes, and as I mentioned and @Marit-Anne0 and @Babs0 too, Super host status is a mark of excellence. But it's hard to maintain over time due to circumstances out of one's control. I lost it for ex. after 2 years straight despite my 5-star rating but due to too many new ABB guests unaware that not leaving a host a review will harm their statistics 😞
I suppose you mainly use airbnb for work related travel and travel on your own ? Look for the little suitcase that says "business travel ready".
What kind of accomodation do you usually book ? If you book a room in a private home as a single male, single female hosts may decline you even with tons of good reviews and nothing to hide.
