New to airbnb need help.

Looking at taking kids to new York mid June. I found a few places that meet my criteria.

But this is also 7 months in advance  Am I looking too early for a week in June? Or should I wait. Will more show up on search or is it set?

I come from Rci that you need a year in advance to find a good place to stay.

@Tim2050  each host is different when it comes to how far ahead they open up dates and accept bookings. I'm sure there are many homes that still have yet to become available . But if you've already found somewhere appealing at a good price, i see no reason not to go ahead and book it!

My caution would be: when booking far in advance, be sure to check that the host has an established track record with no host cancellations. You don't want to risk being cancelled on after the best options are sold out.

@Tim2050  Another thing to consider is that if the dates you are looking at for your trip are over a holiday, or there is some major event going on in the area at that time, those dates could fill if you wait to book for a few more weeks or months.

I am mostly concerned mid June is vacation time for many. So if I wait will there be nothing left.

@Tim2050  As Andrew pointed out, many hosts only have their calendars open 3 or 6 months in advance, so there could be more places showing up for bookings if you wait a bit. But as you say, places may fill up considering it's summer vacation time. It's like booking an airline ticket far in advance- you could wait until closer to the dates to see if the price goes down, but if you do, you could find that it either has gone up, or that the flights you want are full. Up to you.
