New to hosting in Sicily

Hi all, 

I have a flat in catania and would like to rent it to a friend who wants to make it available on Airbnb in catania, Sicily. I’m super happy for him to do it but wondering what’s the requirement. I’ve been trying to Google and there’s way too much info and I don’t really understand the procedure. When I rent the flat to him, should I add something to the contract so that he can rent on Airbnb? Does the flat need to be declared to comune as a holiday let even if not planning to rent it for more than 30 days at a time? 

any help on what to do to register a flat to use on Airbnb is very much appreciated.

If your friends wants to host on Airbnb then it is up to him to become familiar with how Airbnb works not you !!

He will need to check the short term rental legislation in your area to see if this is permissible and get specialist insurance for holiday lets.  He will need to become familiar with how various platforms work. He will be responsible for vetting guests.

I have long term rentals and would never allow a friend to sub let for Airbnb short term rentals - unless your friend is very diligent you can end up with problem guests who party and upset your neighbours. I presume you have checked your lease to see whether you are allowed to have your apartment used to run a business/have short term rentals?
