Nightmare booking

I have a guest that booked dates but never completed payment. From here it gets complicated. She claimed to have accidentally booked under an old account and asked me to decline the reservation so she could rebook. I could not as I had already accepted, and it was for the same day, and then she booked an additional day under her other account and asked to pay cash on arrival. I called Airbnb and asked for them to delete the reservation but they would not unless they spoke with her, even though she had not paid. I started getting suspicious as she began pressuring me to pay cash and communicate outside Airbnb. I saw it as a possible scam because she could come and stay, not pay cash, and cancel her one confirmed day without penalty as it was a few days out. She also did not answer Airbnb when they tried calling. I’m still stuck with her however because I offered our 2nd listing at a steep discount and has now requested a switch to next weekend.

Look at your calendar and if dates are green then she paid and the booking is made. She should be listed in your future reservations.

If she wants to cancel and rebook then she has to cancel, not you because you will be fined and punished for cancellation.

Even if you call Airbnb and they cancel on her behalf you may lose your instant booking option so don't do it if it is not necessary

Yeah, I contacted Airbnb and have changed my settings on cancellation policy to strict. I have learned a few things with this one.
