Hi community,
I have a guest who booked for 4 nights.
they booked about 3 months ago.
After they booked they never responded to my messages (check in time, etc), after 3 unanswered messages in the space of a week, we are now at check in day and not a sign of them. In addition the phone number I called for them was incorrect.
What is the policy regarding this. They have not cancelled.
Do we get the full rental?
Thanks,
Natasha
Since you cancellation policy is strict, even if they cancel now, you can keep the full rental.
Hi @Natasha255
Guests don't always receive notications of Airbnb messaging, so if your guest doesn't respond after several messages, it is always best to contact Airbnb and ask them to contact the guest. Tell then the phone number provided by the guest doesn't work and they are not responding to you.
Some guests just think of it like a hotel and pitch up with no warning. Others read the messages but do not feel the need to respond. I’d call airbnb but basically if it’s an incorrect number on file I doubt they will be able to do much. You’ll get paid anyway unless the guests have some ‘extenuating Circumstance’ for their lack of contact. But don’t be suprised if they turn up all smiles as if nothing has happened.
'No shows' are actually my favourite type of guests. I've had a handful and have always been paid. But like @David6 says, they might just turn up. (Boo!).
Thanks everyone - I contacted Airbnb like you said and will wait for their reply.
Have a good weekend all.
I wouldn't worry about it. You've already done everythere anyone could reasonably expect to contact them. I've had several people not show up. They're honestly muly favorite guest as I get the same amount of money without doing the extra work. One perk of getting ahold of them and getting them to cancel though is it gives you the option of rebooking the rooms and making even more money on them, but if their phone number isn't working I doubt airbnb would be able to get ahold of them either. Just because they haven't shown up yet though doesn't mean they won't, they coyld randomly turn up in a day or two.
