One night gap, not fully booking

Hi there. How to avoid a one night gap to make sure every night was booked?
For example: group c/o on 19th, another group require c/I on 20th, can I just put them pending and wait for others could do c/I on 19th?
I had several nights can't be booked due to one night gap.
Thanks advance.

if you accept one night stays, you can fill them. Otherwise you have to think of them as lost.

When my guests check in, shortly after their jaw has dropped at the beauty of the view from the balcony and I have showed them around, I simply inform them that the day they leave I'm not expecting any guests and they can stay a night longer if they wish. A couple of times the guests extended their stay and my free gap was filled. But I'm playing on something exceptional that I offer, so it's worth going slightly over expectations and it will pay off in the long run.
