Dear fellow Airbnb, I wonder if you have the same experience as me. I have 4.8 and 4.9 in all categories, but the overall ratings is 4,6 (?) and no auper host, that is airbnb still take part of my already quite small charge.
Is there a way to check what the overlla score stars awarded bu each guest are? I have asked supprt but they are vague, referring to the rating page. However we can see all readings start from thw guests but the Overall ratings, and I have been told by support this is not calculate as mean of the ither scores. I also found that Airbnb was going to take away the low overall rating scores if these are not compatible with the ither scores (eg overall 2 rest if the acores 4 and 5). Hoever if we cannot see when did the overall ratings went down how can we -act? The rest of the scores are super. It is all a scam?
The problem, @Daniela1165 , is that overall score is not an average of the other scores. It is separately scored by the guests. So they could give 5 in all the categories, because everything was clean and communication was good, etc., but then give 4 for overall because of traffic or something. It happens all the time.
It is not a scam. It is just a confusing system.
Yes, there is talk of removing outlier reviews, but not sure how that is going to work yet. As far as I know, it has not been implemented.
I'm not sure what you mean about not being able to see overall ratings. What device are you using? A laptop, a smartphone? Let us know and one of us can walk you through that.
There is a ratings page where you can see the overall star rating left by each guest. It is under the 'Performance' tab then click on 'Ratings.' There are many factors that go onto a stay other than Communication, Check In, Cleanliness, Accuracy, and Value. It is unfortunate when a guest does not let you know which areas need improvement.
It never hurts to ask for constructive feedback and ways to improve. Some suggestions are going to be out of your control but others may be things that are easy fixes or that never even crossed your mind.
@Emilia42 I've read other hosts also refer to the "Performance" tab. Mine doesn't say performance, never has. It says "Progress". Seems so odd that they seem to use different terms on different accounts.
@Sarah977, Mine did too until Emiel gave me some fancy link which changed my view and added some new tools to my dashboard.
I think it has to do something with the Professional Hosting Tools:

@Emilia42 Ah, thanks for the tip. I don't mind that it says Progress, altho it sort of insinuates that we're slogging along desperately striving for the dangling carrots, not quite there yet 🙂
Thank for your reply. However since i posted this post my overall rating in the SuperHost is not marked as 4.5, while to room I rent has an overall ratings of 4.7 and no reviews have been received by guests in the mean time (I have checked my emails).
this reinforce even more the perception (and i mught get 4.4 now) that something is not quite right somewhere ...
I view airbnb woth my mobile, shall we blame an app glitch((?) 🙂 or tgat the overall ratimgs is magic ?
Apologies for the typos
