Hello all:
We've had 26 successful hosting experiences. We have our 27th group in now and they have been great, except we have seemed to have several issues all at once. There were severe storms a few nights ago, which resulted in a leak in the roof. I felt bad and embarrassed about this, but it was a one time thing.
Unfortunately, there were area wide power outages last night and the Internet in the area is still out. The guests messaged asking how they could restart the Roku. I have since found out for certain that it is indeed not just our cabin, but area-wide outages still as a result of the power outage.
They also said one of the deck chairs had a crack in it.
Should I offer these guests a $100 refund for all the troubles?
Thank you!
Offer them 50% of your cancellation policy rather than get embroiled in a lengthy resolution process.
You get half rather than nothing and it makes you look reasonable and difficult for the other party to refuse!
@Victoria567 it is not lenghty, they didn't even ask for a refund but @John1080 in order to be a fair host gave them a 100$ which is sufficient for the kind of problem he had. I believe 50% is a bit much for that kind of issue, luckily he had what seems to be very reasonable guests.
Glad he got reasonable guests, if did not have such reasonable guests it depends what is considered lengthy resolution.
For me even having to go to resolution is eating into my valuable time.
@Victoria567 @Ana1136, the guests were great and reasonable. They didn't complain and I think the $100 was adequate in this case given that it was really out of my hands and I have it listed that it is in the mountains and that sometimes both power and Internet go down. The leak, although a new problem that hadn't occurred before, was, of course, our responsibility as the owners.
We will see what they say in the review! 🙂
