HinI al new to AirBBB...got my firat enquiry and he requeated to pay outside thenapp...teason is they dont have a credit card.
what should I do?
@Sam414 just reply back that you only want to host via the AirBnB channels for safety and insurance purposes I think there are a lot of people out there that just wait for new hosts to come along in order to get some discounts, Happened to me too several times, just kick them to the kerb. 😉
Good luck
Thanks Ria... If its discounts they are looking for I am so concerned...I was worried its so kind of scam. Reported this person as the profile looks suspicious
@Sam414 Paying outside the system is a no-no, understandably; not having a credit card oftentimes is a red flag, not always of course, but oftentimes. If new, best to stay conservative till you gain some experience.
Thanks...I declined and actually reported this person after checking out their suspicious profile...just wondered what kind of scam they are working
Sam
These requests for payment outside of system without credit or debit card are almost always scammers. Better to lose a reservation than to lose your funds in your bank account! I get at least one of them a month.
Good luck and be wary of those who want to negotiate too much - even when legit, these guests are always a pain in the bottom.
In the world we live in..... no credit card?!?!?!? Even if it's not a scammer, the guest will probably end up being more trouble than he's paying so a quick "sorry, not interested in deals outside of the ABB platform" would suffice. I got a couple of those types of inquiries and I never regretted passing them over.
Thanks for the input guys
Have declined and even reported to AirBnB
Aski them why they have an account on AirBnb when they have no way of paying for any booking they wish to make.
Tell him for insurance purposes you cant host outside the platform. Also, if you reserve the dates for him, he has no reason to arrive as you've no cancellation policy? There's a strong possibility he might be a no show
@Sam414 glad that you reported him. Definitely sounds like a scammer and we do not want him on the app! Sorry this happened to you. It recently happened to me and I reported it, but I still feel icky about being approached!
I just declined someone who had no profile picture, wanted to stay three weeks, wanted to know if I had discounts, and wanted to pay outside of Airbnb to save money.
I said no. All transactions MUST go through Airbnb. Didn't hear from them again.
Don't be tempted. There are a lot of scammers out there.
