Hi guys, is it correct that airbnb only releases the payment 24 hours after the guests check in?

Yes, typically the payment is sent after the first night of stay.

If the host and guest agree on an additional charge or refund or partial refund, for whatever reason, they can use SEND MONEY or REQUEST MONEY to facillitate the exchange.

Yes. You read it right. 
They see it as their duty to see to it that the service promised by the host is being delivered.

Welcome to the Community Center. I presume, as you have posted in this thread, that you have not received a payout? Just to clarify, this is a forum of hosts, it is not monitored by the airbnb support team, so if you are looking to contact airbnb, you need to do so directly (see link below). If you could give us the dates of the reservation you haven't been paid for and your payout method we may be able to give you an idea of whether it is definitely delayed and you need to contact airbnb, or whether you need to wait a little longer.

As @Danny9 and @Jerome-and-Emily0 said, the payment should be released 24 hours after the guest checks in. How long it takes to get to you, however, depends on your payment method and you need to take into account weekends/Bank holidays. Have a look at this help guide explaining how the payment process works and how you can check your payment status.

It is actually 24 hours after your check in time for that listing. airBnB has no way of knowing when, or if, they actually arrive. In fact if they do not show up that day at all you are still paid 24 hours after the listed check in time is they have not cancelled but just show up late.
