Power outtage.

Booked a Airbnb for 4 nights. Got informed today that tomorrow I won’t have power, ac, water for 6+ hours from the evening to next morning. The power outtage occures AFTER the event I’m going to ends. Won’t be able to shower or relax after the event. What should I do??

@Emilia42 he told me to use the washroom after the event I go too before going back to the condo.

@Donovan24  It's easy to flush a toilet with a bucket of water. All you have to do is take the lid off the tank (handle it gently, though, so as not to break it, set it somewhere it won't get broken until the water is on again) and refill it with water from a pail. And if you have a pail or a large container of water in the bathroom, just put the sink plug in and fill the sink with water to wash your hands and face.

I understand you see this power outage as a big hassle, but honestly, it's a positive thing to learn some of these practical life skills- you never know when they may come in handy down the road.

@Donovan24has mentioned they have a medical condition, as well so perhaps she's concerned about those aspects of her stay where she's reliant on those necessities of life.

We are not to know the in's & out's of that, e.g perhaps she uses a colostomy bag, & it's her right to privacy not to disclose & if it is  part of her medical condition that may be related to her concerns about the water & electricity.

Maybe it's something she may need to disclose tactfully & in confidence with her host who seems to be very reasonable with there communications so they can do there best to supply fresh water etc.

We all must learn to not be judgemental of others without considering the full background facts and walking in another person's unknown shoes.

All the best

Call Airbnb for rehousing.    Should not have to pay;   issue may be beyond host's control,  but that doesn't mean you have to pay.

@Kenneth12 How do I go about doing this? Do I need an order number or something?

I agree with @Kenneth12. From what you have said, this isn't going to work for you. Get on to customer services now, @Donovan24

@Kenneth12  @Gordon0  Just contacted them and they told me they couldn’t do anything about it. Since it’s affecting the whole building and not the suite.

@Donovan24 try again. Airbnb customer support is a crap shoot.

@Lisa723  She told me she talked to her team and that there was nothing they could do. Cause the host offered me battery powered lamps... so he tried to accomodate me. They told me to cancel and book somewhere else, but isn’t that going to cost me more?

@Donovan24 yes, in your shoes I would try again. Electricity and running water are basic requirements. If the host cannot supply these Airbnb should rehome you without penalty.

@Donovan24 :  battery powered lamps are not sufficient.  The unit does not have power and hot water,  it doesn't matter why,  it's not habitable.    ABB should rebook;  don't ask, demand.

@Lisa723 @Kenneth12 Called again... and again since the entire building is affected, they can’t do anything.

It has nothing to do with the entire building being affected;  they relocated half of bookings in Mexico City when the city's water went out.  The fact that it was outside the control of the host has nothing to do with it.

Bottom line,   host does not have power or hot water.   That's all that matters.   Drive it in,   calmly explain that if they won't do something,  you'll take a hotel,  expect them to compensate for the difference,  and if they don't,  go to arbitration--  in which case,  someone in Legal won't be happy with their silliness.

That is nonsensical. I would keep calling back and insisting.
