@Christine1759 I realize that there is no 100% fool proof protection, as I would imagine you are in agreement. However, I have gathered over the years I have participated on this forum there are several steps to take to increase protection. There are some differences between the on site hosting versus the remote hosting, Of course the #1 rule is: Don't be naive, hand over the keys and go off on a vacation!
Here are some others:
- Don't do same day reservations.
- Don't accept same city reservations
- Require positive host recommendations if using IB
- Establish a rapport with the guest by asking pertinent travel questions.
- Be able to inspect what you expect, i.e., be able to verify guests checking in either directly or through door camera.
I would imagine there are other host suggestions.
