Private notes

I recently had a guest that would not communicate with me on the use of our party room. She said she wanted it but wouldn’t give me details or work out payment. I made notes in the private note section. She ended up canceling.

Then today I get a new booking for the exact same date. The guest had listed only one person however she referred to her family. I questioned her about how many people would be coming. As I looked over her reservation I noticed that the same notes that I had put on the previous guest was now on this guest reservation. This was a red flag to me. I contacted Airbnb and they could not give me an explanation about how the private notes have been transferred onto another guest account.  They eventually canceled this reservation because of my concerns. I asked them if there’s anyway that these two guests could be connected on the same profile. All they could tell me is that they had both been confirmed. Has anyone else had this problem? I will feel terrible if I had a reservation canceled for no reason.

@Sara650 Hi Sara,

Aside from the date being the same and the family reference was there any else. For example were they both from the same place or have same last name? Did each profile have reviews ?

Also, are the notes attached to the dates - meaning do the notes need to be deleted as they pertain to the dates and not the guest?

They were both from Indianapolis. They had different last names but similar first names. The private notes are for each individual reservation. No one can see it but you. It’s for reminders or issues with that particular guest. My red flag was that my notes showed up on both reservation. The original reservations was a mom wanting a place for her daughter’s going away party. We don’t allow parties in the apartment and I could not get her to finalize the party area. My gut is that the second person was the daughter. My concern was that they were planning to have the party in the apartment anyway.

Honestly I’m at a loss. It was just to weird that my notes were on both.
