Problems with calendar

Hi all! We're new hosts. Our third visitor requested our place but then said he couldn't complete the booking because the calendar showed the dates as unavailable. Now, our calendar shows his booking, awaiting payment, and displays the dates as unavailable as well. In the meantime the guest has made another reservation. How can we clear our availability calendar without receiving cancellation penalties? Thanks for any help-- m and k

@Marcus-and-Kirianne0 On the calendar, is the booking in gray or green? Sometimes guests fail to make payment because the payment method did not work, in this case Airbnb reserves the date for the guest for 24 hours so once this is over your dates should free up. If it's in green it means the reservation has been accepted and the guest has paid.
