Any updates on conditions in Puerto Rico?  If planning travel in December over the holidays, do you think it will be ready?

Did you ever get this resolved?  We are in the same boat for our February trip.

I'm in San Juan right now, spending the 4th week of my 5-week trip.  My first host cancelled, and refunded the payment 2 weeks before my arrival.  I located another place, and this second host totally deceived me, promising that power had been restored.  So I paid for it, got here, and discovered the power had never come back, with no prospect of it being restored anytime soon.  It was a complete and total lie.  Her last 3 reviews blistered her with similar stories as mine, but they had not been posted prior to my arrival.  Hope Airbnb suspends her azz.  She refunded the day I arrived, but here I was stranded, lugging 3 suitcases, no place to go, and only intermittent internet connections.  Oh, and my Verizon phone service wasn't working.  Was able to contact the host I've used 2 times before for advice (his place wasn't available during these 5 weeks)...and he JUST HAD A CANCELLATION!  So I stayed at his familiar Parque del Indio (San Juan) apt. for a week, till his next guest arrived.  He had water,  power, and strong wi-fi...so I was able to locate and reserve 2 places for the remainder of my time...and it's been great.  Power has been fine (Ocean Park, San Juan), except for a 7-day unexpected outage...but the host was generous with the generator, running it about 15 hours/day.  Those conditions are sort of expected these days, even here in San Juan.  I've met locals who've been w/o power for 3-4 months, some even pre-Maria (Hurricane Irma).  Hopefully, things will be more reliable for you by February.  My advice: READ AND STUDY THE REVIEWS OF YOUR HOST, AND TRY TO GET A GUARANTEE THAT POWER IS RELIABLE. Don't hesitate to communicate with them frequently.  Good luck...hope you weather is as perfect as mine has been...73º-83º, no rain.  Your UBER app will be your best friend. Cheap, reliable, simple. Have fun!

Hello Gretchen!
In which city is your Airbnb place? I’m from PR and we can help you with some info about areas, etc.
For example, most of the metro area (San Juan, Guaynabo, Dorado, etc) is already with water & power . Internet service is also recovering very fast in those areas. When walking by Old San Juan and Condado you see the normal day to day activity with hotels, casinos and restaurants opened.
Let us know a bit more of info about your trip to see how we can help you guys!

Thank you Claire for your words of wisdom and support. As you said, the island had been affected seriously(to said the least) by the hurracaine; but at the same time all the islanders are trying very hard to come back to the “isla del encanto” that PR once was. The people of PR will really appreciate continue or new business to assist them in their recovery. I am a host in a small community. Our house, was not affected at all from the hurracaine, and it is ready with electricity, WiFi, and all the amenities to host any visitor.

Home sweet home is in Carolina and is fully recovered from the storm. Electricity, wifi, swimming pool and beach within walking distance. I have a two bedroom, balcony, and two bathrooms. Electricy, wifi and all anenities needed for guest.
