Question regarding taxes - how much extra should I charge?

hello,

I'm new to hosting. Furthermore I am hosting outside the U.S. but I'm a U.S citizen. I udnerstand I have to pay taxes on world wide income.

I'm curious at what point do I pay the taxes? Is it when I file my taxes or does airbnb deduct per reservation?

I'm starting off charging a modest amount since I'm new and all but I don't want to get screwed later when filing taxes and realize i have to pay a lot to the IRS. furthermore, this isn't really a business airbnb. Its my house and I travel quite a bit so renting it out when I'm out of town.

My question is how much more should i budget in per reservation for taxes?

Is there anyway not to pay taxes? If i rent it out for 14 days or less?

what percentage of the rent can I deduct if do pay taxes?

If i hire a cleaner but pay cash can i deduct?

I'm a dual citizen so how do i know which country to pay taxes to?

I know the answer might be to consult an accountant but like I said this isn't really a business so I'm just trying to figure this out myself.

Any suggestions from those who have experience are appreciated.

best

Dori

@Dori787 You really need an accountant but you could also research

1) Is there a dual tax agreement between Israel and the USA. If there is any tax you pay in Israel will be offset against any tax you owe in the USA BUT there can be timing issues to deal with.

2) It sounds like you are renting the property - Does your lease allow a short term rental sublease? Most do not.

3) If you have provided Airbnb with all your tax details they will not withhold tax from you so you will have to pay it yourself
