I have 2 guest/students from Croatia ( new to Airbnb)request a booking from June 8th to Sept 20th. The issues are..I already have a guest booked from July 2nd to 6th., so they request and accepted June 8th to July 2nd and chose the split payment option...but they want me to hold/block July 6th to the 20th for them.
What do you guys think about that?
@Jackie380 to block July 6th to the 20th of September? I wouldn't even consider it. Who guarantees they will come back? You don't even know if they are good guests or if you will want them back. If they want to, they can book those dates too and pay as it should be.
I'm a bit worried about those senerio..I probably may consider holding it for 2/3weeks...maybe 🙂
@Jackie380 I wouldn't recommend holding it even for a day except if the income is not that important to you and you don't mind if your listing stays empty.
@Jackie380 Guests can choose to book or not book. There is no reason to hold dates for anyone. The only instance where I might do that is if it was a request from a good, repeat guest who I knew and trusted and wanted back, who messaged me saying they were having some kind of difficulty getting Airbnb to accept their payment or credit card. And then I'd only hold the dates for a few days, max.
If they don't have the funds, or there's an issue with their credit card, that's their problem, not something they should be asking you to accomodate. You aren't their banker, money lender, or mommy.
@Jackie380 Absolutely not. Like has been mentioned, you do not know these people and since they are new to the site you have even less information.
Did they mention how long they are hoping you will hold these dates?
I think they are hoping I'd hold it until they arrive in June . But I had already decided that was a big NO. 😄
@Jackie380 Another thing if they do actually book, if this is a long term reservation- make sure they understand the cancellation policy. Chances are couple of students who can't manage to come up with the payment for the dates they want haven't bothered to thoroughly read how much money they will lose if they cancel after the free cancellation window.
Thank you guys I have decided to no to do it, after reading your responses.
