Went to clean on day of check out only to find my place looking like it was being permanently lived in (4 day rental) and my guests no where to be found. Several messages to the guest, then phone calls and even text messages.... nothing. As I begin to pack up the belongings fear sets it, there's drugs and drug use items everywhere. I contacted police and Airbnb. The police acknowledged that my guest was in fact in jail and took the drug items from my home. I have still not heard back from Airbnb. I want to hold the damage deposit and don't know what I should even say on a review or if to even leave one. Advice please.
Not sure if you can collect the security deposit, as i understand there is no physical damage, see:
Regarding a review:
I guess this guest will be removed by Airbnb from the platform, probably not leaving a review at all, and your review (if any) will disappear then also.
Maybe wait first what is going to happen, there is 14 days for a review.
Best regards,
Emiel
@Michelle2372 contrary to common sense Airbnb do not actually take a damage deposit from our guests.
If there is damage you need to inform Airbnb within 24 hours and before your next guest checks in.
If this is a local guest it may not be worth your safety to leave a review although not doing so will put future hosts at risk.
