Scam alert

I offer one room on a bed and breakfast basis and was emailed this week on the address I keep exclusively for that purpose asking to book for one week in March. They said their employer would send me a cheque for more than the required amount and I should send the excess ( their travelling allowance!) back to them. Seemed very dodgy and having done a bit of research it is indeed a scam. I have reported it to the police fraud line.

Yes, this is a known scam, the cheque will probably be false.
