When searching a location, AirBNB should show listings that are in the town requested first followed by other locations. Guests unfamiliar with their desired destination are endangered and mis-informed when distant listings 20 minutes away on unfamiliar small country or in less safe or appropriate locations appear before the town searched. With Expedia or Booking.Com hotel searches, if a guest enters a town, hotel guests see hotels in the requested town first and not distant locations. After in-town hotels are posted, other towns after all filters are made are posted by distance. In addition, the Hotel sites tell the distance of the hotel from the requested destination in miles.
AirBNB guests booking a town typically for events (weddings) or restaurants or activities find themselves booked 20 minutes away driving dark small country roads often late at night after drinking because they are misled by the search. Beyond the dis-service, this is dangerous and could involve unnecessary driving, accidents, injuries and death. It is also unfair to AirBNB hosts located in the requested location who lose the booking and those in mis-directed more distant locations dealing with upset guests.
This is such a simple change to make, has precedence with other OTAs and will result in much greater safety and satisfaction by guests and fairness to hosts.
