Septic backed up during stay

Hi guys first time poster, 

Septic backed up during the last day of guests stay. They left early in the AM because of bad smell. However, they did break several items of ours, and we would like to defer from hosting them in the future. I believe they should be compensated for the inconvenience as I believe its fair, but curious to hear about any other opinions. A five star rating is my top priority.

@Kiernan4 How early is early? When was checkout time? When did smell from septic backup start?

@Kiernan4  Don't you think the odds are high that they caused the septic system problem ?  If this happened the morning of their check out maybe half of one day, depending on the cost of what they damaged.
