Should I introduce myself to my guests

As a host should I make a point to introduce myself to my guests. I live in a house next to the apartment I list on Airbnb . Just not sure what to do.

Of course. What would be your reasons for not doing ?

I had a landlord in college that made a point of introducing himself by bringing us stocks of stuff for the kitchen.  He was a funny guy, and just had a presence about him where we felt like he genuinely wanted to know who was living in the house that year, not to spy on us, just because he was a sentimental old fart.  He only came once a year, we looked forward to that.

Kind of a weird side story I guess, but I think your guests are unlikely to feel intruded on if you exude that kind of energy that says "oh, I'm just so excited to meet you!"  Then they won't feel "spied upon".  If you show up unannounced, sometimes people look surprised, but you can quickly push past that by introducing yourself and making clear how excited you are to meet them/welcome them to the place you have.

Yes...but tell them you will be there when they check in, or similar - and let them know you are around if they need anything, but don't impose

Thank you just what I needed to hear .

I've had better experiences on the occasions where I've gone out of my way to meet the people staying at my place. It also gives you an opportunity to verify the number of people you expected to be in your house. It's the occasions where the vibe I get is that the guest(s) clearly do not want me to stop by that put me on edge. These are not usually the greatest experiences.

I am definitely considering a quick face to face as a must.

I also live in the same building where my rental is, so when my guests come I await them and show them the place, ask them if I can help them with anything, tell them not to hesitate to call if they need anything. I think they appreciate that.
