I use the Yale Assure smart lock and have integrated it with Airbnb so that codes are created at the time of booking. In the end it doesn't feel that convenient, because either 1) the guest has to look back at their previous messages to find the code (some would rather message me than do that) or 2) I have to update their check-in message with the code, which defeats the purpose of automation.
To solve this, Airbnb could do what VRBO does and add an optional "Access Code" field for reservations. Hosts could either input the access code manually if they want or smart lock apps could do automatically. That optional field could then be integrated into a scheduled check-in message and eliminate the need to update anything manually, either in Airbnb or in the smart lock app.
If you have found an existing method for completely automating the process that doesn't involve referring guests to a previous message or using a third-party service, please let me know. If you want to suggest this addition, leave your feedback at https://www.airbnb.com/help/feedback.
Hi @Todd480 ! It's been a while since you posted. Did you receive any good suggestions yet on how you could solve this?
Please let us know how you get on! There may be other Hosts struggling with the same problem that could benefit from your solution. 😃
Nothing yet. I have just been updating the scheduled messages manually.
@Todd480 are you still looking for feedback/discussion? I work in the Smart Home industry and would love to talk to someone like you who is looking for a better solution. I am trying out my company's products for my own home but haven't gotten started yet so would love to hear about your experience.
Hey @Nathan2727,
Sure, that sounds alright. I've spent a decent amount of time banging my head against this wall; I'd be happy to share my thoughts. If you want to get in direct contact, message me by clicking "Contact Host" on my listing page: airbnb.com/h/bremerton.
@Todd480 looks like I can't share a message because there aren't any dates available for your property.
What is another way we can get in contact that you prefer?
Hello Todd, I am also looking into this and seems that RemoteLock, Lynx or Operto would potentially help. Have you looked into them?
