Hi everyone!
There are a lot of topics about smartlocks but none cover the multi-point door locks.
Is there a smartlock solution for multi-point door locks?
These multi-point door locks are quite common among hosts, but I've never seen anyone using a smartlock for this type of door.
Otherwise, I'm planning to change the whole door lock system, but that would be a lot of work and money, especially if you have multiple properties.
What do you suggest?
Thanks for the help!
Cheers!
$10 for a cheap lockbox and put the key inside. Can't imagine how much it would cost to change out a door with multi point locking - $1000 ?
I'm not planning to change the door. I was just wondering if there's any solution for this type of a door.
Installing a cheap separate lockbox is not an option either. The door is metallic as well as the door frame.
@Peter1124, did you ever come across anything? I am listing a new unit with a multipoint door lock. My contractor said they do not make smart locks for these types of doors so I'm out of luck. I am super worried guests are not going to understand how to lock and unlock this door (despite my simple instruction which I am going to tape onto the door.) Do your guests have any issues? Do you have to personally give them instruction or do they just "get it?"
Hi Emilia.
Unfortunately, I didn't find a viable solution. There are no smart locks for such multi-point lock doors because these doors have multiple mechanisms which need to be actioned in different ways by the user, and they don't lock automatically either. So, no smartlock for me, I guess.
And, indeed, even many guests get confused by this and many don't know how to lock it properly. So I just have to keep explaining to them how to do it. Some of them forget it open - but, fortunately, I don't have anything valuable in the house so no intruder can steal anything. But, at night, I make sure myself it is locked(as I live in the same house).
