Hi Community,
I have accepted a guests reservation but would like to send them a special offer. The airbnb interface has changed slightly since I last did this and the option to send a special request did not come up as it usually does. I later found it below the caluculation of my earnings and now it wont allow me to adjust the price. They have been given 72 hours to pay. How do I change my price so that they can pay the correct amount?
Very blonde move, please could someone help this rookie out 🙂
Have abeautiful day!
Jess

Hello @Jess123,
The option to send a special offer only ever came up if the guest sent a reservation inquiry. It never showed up for reservations requests or for instant bookings. Guests send a reservation inquiry when they're still unsure if they'll book or not and so wish to ask some questions. the ability to send a special offer is then useful as it may prompt them to book. If a guest sends a reservation request or books instantly they've made the decision to book and so are happy with the advertised price.

Given that you say they have 72 hours to pay it looks like they've availed of the group booking option.
There is no reservation yet. It will be confirmed only if they pay within 72 hours.
You can send them a message saying that you'll refund a certain amount if they book.
Alternatively you can ask them to stop the booking and submit a reservation inquiry but they won't be able to avail of the group payment if they do this.
Steve.

First of all, thank you Steve,
when I sent two days ago the special offer Airbnb wrote:
1. the offer does not block the calendar
2. if the offer is not accepted in 24 hour it expires
The calerdar was then blocked, first mistery, then the offer expired and the calendar is still blocked and the 3 operators of the call center agree with me totally but they have not power to remove the blocking.
What can I do?
Thanks in advance
I too am in the same predicament and have used the send special offer in the past but it seems to have been removed from a request to book. The only options now are accept or decline. I would suggest sending feedback to the link below requesting that they add the "send special request" to the Request to Book page. We use it for things like adding extra adults or extra services/amenities like linens. It seems like a waste of time for both guest and host to have to ask them to cancel and send an inquiry instead. Here is the link;
Hi Patrick,
I am fully with you. I often need to update price even higher as airbnb compute correct price for max 2 adults.
If there are more, I need to reserve more apartments, and, of course, update the price.
Removing this feature and replace it with double work from both side "decline and book again" is, sorry airbnb to say, very very stupid !!

AirBnb! What on earth have you done?? It used to be that guest could request a special offer when making a reservation and in doing that, I could see all the fees, etc. If you had someone make an inquiry, then it didn't show any of the details about the extra fees, etc.
So numerous times I've had guests say, oh, I can only pay xx amount. Which means that I need to see what all of the surcharges are in order to have it be all inclusive of those. And the only place you all did that was on the main booking page. And that feature wasn't offered at all on the inquiry page. Which was stupid that it was never offered there because if people are inquiring in the first place you need to be able to see that information in order to make an offer.
So now I've just told a guest who has a cap on how much she can pay to go ahead and request to book so that I could send her a special offer and now the special offer feature doesn't exist any more on the website. Which is beyond infuriating as a host. So instead, you want me to continuously provide poor service to someone who is in the process of negotiating with me because the site keeps shifting.
If you aren't going to offer the special price on the booking page please give notice to the hosts so they know that's no longer an option. Please also include the feature that used to exist on the special offer site to calculate what the cost will be for a guest including all of their fees so that I can make an informed decision whether I can afford to meet their request and meet their budget.
And please bring that feature back to the calendar page. You used to be able to block out a series of dates and see that as a calculator feature to figure out what it would be for someone and I couldn't find that feature either.
Thanks!
