AB&B starting collecting state sales taxes and have posted that they will submit them for us. They have our federal ID# but do not have our state tax number and so far no taxes collected in November have been posted to our state account.
Is there a spot on the ab&b site that is for state tax information?
Has anyone had any experience with ab&b and state taxes?
What should we expect and being November taxes are due in two days, should we be concerned?
@Christine358 When Air BNB gets involved in collecting taxes for states or cities or any other regulatory agency, you really need to explore the details of the collection. For example, Air BNB usually collects the taxes at the time of the reservation but the tax is not due to the agency until the actual date of the reservation. So if Air BNB collected in November for a reservation in February, the tax is usually not due until February. Does that make sense in your situation?
The issue of needing your state tax id is a separate issue. I suggest you contact Air BNB about how the collection process is being conducted. Also, can you contact the state tax collector for the process from their side?
