We have booked a room in Girne yesterday, as our original airbnb accommodation was canceled. The guy accepted the reservation, today we arrived here and tried tried to get in touch with him, since he hasn't answered to our messages yet. We sent him a text, that costs a fortune, since we are not in EU anymore. "hello, I booked airbnb 26.9.-3.10. When is it possible to check-in today? We are in Girne." "no, i'm sorry" "When is it possible to check-in? I booked for today!" "I got someone sorry" "My name is ***, I booked airbnb and you accepted it" "No, I didn't accept" Of course we cannot cancel on the website, otherwise we have to pay for the nights, but he hasn't answered on Airbnb, email and the first phone number. Any ideas?? And yes, he confirmed the travel.

If you have a confirmed booking, you would need to contact airbnb on the matter.  The emergency contact number should be in your printed itinerary.

Such behaviour is completely unacceptable - you should also flag this host profile.

My guess a new host unfamiliar with AirBnB who did not know they had Instant Book on.

David

It was not an instant booking, he had to accept us in 24 hours, what he did, and btw it all happened one day before arrival.

Very weird, a call to AirBnB and from what I have read they will help you with alternate accomodation.

Horrible for you; I'm really sorry this has happened. Airbnb will help give them a ring - they should be able to help finding alternative accommodation.
