Thinking about listing entire house - not sure how much needs to be packed away?

Thinking about listing entire house - not sure how much needs to be packed away?

We are thinking of listing our entire home during the 2020 DNC convention - and plan to then be out of state during

that time.

We have never rented out our home.

If we did do this - how much of our personal belongings need to be packed away prior to a guests arrival if they will have

the entire house and we won't be there?  All of our clothing?  Drawers emptied?

We aren't sure what we are getting ourselves into, and just want to see how extensive it would be prior to deciding to list our home.

Thank you!

@Amy1117   There's not a specific requirement pertaining to how much of your personal items can be in the home, and the listing editor has a feature where you can disclose whether guest areas contain your personal effects.

There are some things that I would definitely discourage either removing or securely locking up:  important documents, firearms, prescription drugs, alcohol, items of significant monetary or sentimental value, and anything else you wouldn't want a snoopy guest to stumble upon or use.

You don't have to empty all your closets, but guests should have a designated place to store an amount of clothes appropriate to the length of stay. If you offer kitchen access, it's best to remove anything perishable and make it very clear which items guests are permitted to use.

@Amy1117 I would suggest anything you don't want to lose or have damaged.

Is there and attic or cellar or garage you could padlock and not allow access to?

There is...the thought of packing away every single closet and drawer is a bit daunting though...so I wasn't sure to the extent I should go!
