My tip of the day is to go around and shop for link shorteners.
You could use Bitly when you promote your listing on the web, blogs, forums or social networks.
A bitly link looks like this http://bit.ly/2qePUwu
This is supposed to be short, Google short link service would look like this for the same listing / accomodation :
..so Google is shorter and better but there are many others.
Whatever you choose, the link shortener provider will always give you access to the stats of the link you have created.
This can be very helpful in detecting which source of traffic works better for your airbnb pad.
Let me know what you think of this tip and what you do on the web, Cheers !
Hello @Lilian20,
Thanks for sharing this tip. Do you find you use this a lot? Where would you recommend using this?

Hello @Lizzie , thanks for commenting my picture and for your questions.
I tend to use it a lot during the hot season, I personally wear it mostly at the beach.
I recommand its use to everyone anywhere near water : River, lake, swimming-pool.
As a pic, it can also be used as a side joke because a short is short by definition, which is funny.
Have a good day !
hehe, @Lilian20 , most of us are just not as web savvy as you are.
So when I saw your post about " getting better info on people who visit your Airbnb listing", I am thinking of getting better info on people who send me booking requests. Oh, this will be of great help, I think - but then to my utter disappointment, one more time I just find myself looking at your very own listing.....How is that helpful to the rest of us?
But then I realized that your clever wording of "visiting my Airbnb listing" is not the same as getting a booking request. Big difference And entirely my fault to first misunderstand that wording, but I bet others here will too!
Still, even if I knew how to then look up the traffic pattern to my listing from the link you provided, how will that possibly help me, meaning bringing in more inquiries?? Airbnb is the entity in charge of marketing our Airbnb properties, not us individually. So even if I knew a bunch of 25 year olds from Timbuktu are looking at my listing, what is the next step?
Obviously the idea here is to take responsibility for bringing traffic to your desired conversion point / listing.
It may be your own site / domain name or it may be airbnb, it's entirely up to you how much effort you want to put in to get more visitors to your listing.
From that point of view, the next step would be to try and make less efforts for better results hence the use of any tool that will help understand what works and what doesn't.
Personally, I prefer everyone to go to my airbnb listing. One of the reasons being that my airbnb inbox is opened in a window on my computer most of the day.
And you, have you decided to take responsibility for the success of your listing ? How does that translate in real life ?
Hello @Annette33 ,
Thanks for these two questions and thank for pointing at my webmarketing skills.
Q1 : How is that helpful ?
Well basically, it helps people take responsibility for their own success and help them achieve better understanding of what makes a booking online.
Q2: how to bring in more inquiries?
I suggest you make a really exciting offer when talking about your accomodation on the web.
Examples :
- Think about making a special offer for the audience of your Accomodation Page on facebook.
- Adding a sense of urgency with a limited time to trigger the booking seems a good idea to me.
- ..
Hope that helps,
Ideas about how to make a great offer ?? Anybody ?
