Total cost changed after cancellation, lowering my refund

Hello,

I made a booking 2 weeks ago and a couple of days later I had to cancel due to Hurricane Irma. I was evacuating to the city of the reservation and would not be going back in November. The host said no problem and that I could cancel for a 100% refund. I received a credit on my credit card and noticed a huge discrepancy. I went back to check the "cancelled" listing and the price was different! The original booking was $246 a night, but the cancelled info says $123. I have tried contacting the host and have not received any response. I have the original pricing (screenshot taken on the day of booking) and credit card charges to prove that the total was higher when originally booked.
I don't know what to do about this situation and didn't know the prices could be retroactivity changed, especially since my card got charged.

I suspect this host had a strict cancellation policy - that would explain the 50% refund.  In such a case you would have had to contact airbnb and have them cancel for you under the "extenuating circumstances" rule.

Providing you have the correspondance with your host regarding full refund on the airbnb messaging platform, you could try and contact airbnb with your issue.
